9am Leprecon Hunt 2017 - A Bust!

In anticipation of the day's revelry, and dread of the over 30 residents, I took a quick stroll this morning to see the herds of green toting "Leprecons" swarming into Hoboken. I headed south on Jefferson, past the fire department which is all prepared with four fire trucks ready to go.

Settlers of Catan Tournament

Play Settlers of Catan and meet people in this casual tournament with prizes including exclusive Catan Goodie plush toys and more! Two rounds of Settlers of Catan (no expansions), each table of 3-4 players play an identical map the first round, and each table plays an identical map the second round (though the second round map is different than the first).  Winners from the first round play each other while the rest are paired with other players who did similarly as well.  Final prizes dependent on the number of players, but includes picks for Catan Goodie plush toys as well as $10 store credit per player.

Root Beer Float - Schnackenbergs Luncheonette

The other day my son and I were early to violin class at Garden Street School of the Performing Arts (it is on Washington). To while away the time we wandered up the street and stopped into Schnackenbergs Luncheonette. Apparently, it is the oldest running lunch place in Hoboken. They have a cool old sign out front, which I had assumed was just a left over from days gone by. Nope. It's a fully functioning old school dinner like Eisenberg's Sandwich Shop in the near the Flat Iron building in NYC, but with some modern style. Since we had time, we sat at the counter. I had a coffee and Nate had a root beer float. I'll let the photos speak to whether he enjoyed it or not.

PSA Measles in Jersey City

One case of measles confirmed in Jersey City

The New Jersey Department of Health has confirmed a case of measles — a highly contagious disease — in a Hudson County adult male who may have exposed individuals at several public places in Jersey City between January 16-24, 2017. The individual acquired measles while traveling abroad and is recovering at home.

DOH recommends that anyone who visited the locations during the dates/times listed below, contact a health provider immediately to discuss potential exposure and risk of developing the illness. An individual who may have been exposed could develop symptoms as late as February 14, 2017. Measles symptoms include rash, high fever, cough, runny nose and red, watery eyes.
